Privacy policy
TracknFund is a money app for couples. You decide what your partner sees, and this policy explains what we collect, why, who else is involved, and how you can export or delete everything. In short: we only collect what the app needs to work, we don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
“TracknFund”, “we” and “us” mean TracknFund. This policy covers the TracknFund apps for iPhone and Android, the web app, and this website.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name and email address, and a password if you choose one (stored only as a secure hash; we can’t read it).
- Financial information you enter: the accounts you add (name, type, currency, balance), your expenses, income, transfers and refunds (amount, date, category, merchant or source, and any notes), budgets and recurring bills; investments and what they hold (names or tickers, units, prices and costs you enter), the values of property you add, loan balances, and the values you save for your trend chart; and projects you create (a name, an icon, an optional budget, savings target and dates) and which entries count toward them. You type these in yourself. TracknFund does not connect to your bank and never asks for bank logins or card numbers.
- Household and partner information: who is in your household, the email address you send an invite to, and your sharing choices (who can see each personal account, and whether you share your income).
- Settings: your currency, your household’s currency, appearance, quick-entry categories, whether insights are shown, and whether you use TracknFund with a partner or on your own.
Information created as you use TracknFund
- Sharing history: a record of changes to what’s shared (for example, an account made private or a change to income sharing), which both partners can see.
- Sign-in records: the sessions that keep you signed in. For your security, you’re signed out after 90 days, or after 10 days without using the app.
- Basic technical logs: our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address, time and type of request) to run and protect the service.
What stays on your device
- App lock passcode: stored only on your device, as a secure hash in the phone’s keychain. It never leaves your device.
- Face ID, Touch ID and fingerprint: handled entirely by your phone’s operating system. TracknFund only learns whether the check succeeded; we never receive biometric data.
- Your sign-in token is kept in your phone’s secure storage (in the web app, in your browser’s storage), along with small preferences like your chosen chart style.
On this website
- Visit counts: we use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, where visitors come from (such as a search engine) and their device type and country. It works without cookies and doesn’t identify you or follow you to other websites.
- Feedback you choose to send: the features you pick, your comment, and, only if you give it and tick the box, your email address so we can tell you when those features are ready. To stop spam, we keep a one-way scrambled form of your IP address (not the address itself) for one day.
What we don’t collect
No advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, no photos, no bank or card credentials, and no analytics or tracking tools in the app. This website doesn’t use cookies or advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To provide TracknFund: storing your entries, showing your totals, budgets and charts, and sharing with your partner exactly what you’ve chosen to share.
- To convert amounts between currencies (see “Exchange rates” below).
- To show insights, such as budget pace or a possible duplicate. These are calculated by simple rules from the numbers you entered, only from data you’re allowed to see. No artificial intelligence service is involved, and insights are not financial advice. You can turn them off in Settings.
- To send emails you ask for: sign-in codes, password resets, account confirmation and partner invites.
- To keep TracknFund secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To meet legal obligations.
We don’t sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles. We don’t use it to train artificial intelligence models.
Your partner and what they see
TracknFund is built for two. When you share a household, what your partner sees depends on your choices:
- Joint accounts are always shared in full with both of you.
- Each personal account is Private (your partner sees nothing), Totals only (the account and its totals, never individual expenses; the default) or Full details (every expense, read-only).
- Income is shared as you choose: not at all, totals only, or in full. If you don’t share your income, your partner also doesn’t see your personal account balances.
- Both of you see the history of these sharing changes. A partner’s private account is never named in it.
- Projects are Ours (both of you see and add to them) or Mine (only you ever see them). An expense on a joint account still shows to your partner, without the name of your private project. A private account never counts toward a shared project.
Your partner can see what you’ve shared with them and can export the joint data. If you leave or delete your account, joint accounts and their history stay with your partner (see “Deleting your account”).
Who else is involved
We use a small number of service providers to run TracknFund. They process data only on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Supabase stores your account and the data you enter, handles sign-in, and sends sign-in emails. Data is stored in the United States.
- Vercel hosts this website and the TracknFund web app, and provides the website’s cookie-free visit counts.
- Apple and Google distribute the apps. If you subscribe in the app, the payment is handled by Apple or Google under their privacy policies; we never receive your card details.
Exchange rates: to convert currencies, our server downloads the European Central Bank’s published daily rates (through the Frankfurter service). Only dates and currency codes are requested; none of your information is sent.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply).
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, your data is deleted from our live database immediately (except joint data that stays with your partner, as described below). Copies in our providers’ backups and logs are removed as those are routinely replaced, typically within 30 days. Exchange rates are public data and aren’t linked to you.
Website feedback is kept to guide what we build. If you left your email, we use it only to tell you about the features you picked, and we delete it when you unsubscribe or ask us to (reply to any email, or write to tracknfund@gmail.com).
Your choices and rights
- See and correct: everything you’ve entered is in the app, where you can edit or delete it.
- Export: Settings › Your account › Export my data gives you a file with your transactions, accounts, budgets, recurring bills and settings (spreadsheets and one complete file).
- Sharing: change who sees each account or your income at any time in the app.
- Insights and emails: turn insights off in Settings. We only send emails you ask for.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU and UK GDPR or California’s privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, to object to or limit certain uses, and to complain to a data protection authority. You can do most of this in the app; for anything else, email us at tracknfund@gmail.com. We’ll respond within 30 days and won’t treat you differently for using your rights. Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in keeping it secure, and legal obligations.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings › Your account › Delete my account. After you confirm it’s you, your login, profile, personal accounts and everything in them, your personal budgets and your settings are deleted. If you share a household, joint accounts and their history stay with your partner, who becomes the household’s owner; expenses you added there remain without your name. If you’re on your own, your whole household is deleted. You can export your data first. You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing tracknfund@gmail.com.
What our team can see
To run TracknFund and help you, our team uses an admin tool that shows account details only: your email and name, when you signed up and last signed in, your currency, whether you use TracknFund with a partner, and how many accounts, entries, budgets and projects you have. It never shows amounts, merchants, notes, or the names of your accounts, budgets or projects. Admin access needs two-step verification, and every look-up or action (such as signing you out of all devices, or deleting an account you asked us to delete) is recorded in a log that can’t be changed.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with our provider’s encryption at rest. Access rules in our database enforce what each person and partner can see, and we test them automatically. You can add an app lock with a passcode or Face ID. Invite links are stored only in a form that can’t be read back. Beyond the admin tool described above, people who operate TracknFund can technically access stored data through our database provider; we do so only when needed to run the service, with your permission for support, or when required by law. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach as the law requires.
Children
TracknFund is for adults: you must be 18 or older to use it (see our terms of service). It isn’t directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where the law sets a higher age). If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and for important changes we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
